EPA Restores California’s Authority to Enforce Greenhouse Gas Emission Standards for Cars and Light Trucks

On Wednesday, March 9^th, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to allow California’s nitrogen oxides (NOx) rule for heavy-duty trucks. This ruling effectively reauthorizes the State to impose its own pollution limits on cars, empowering the State to pursue progressive climate policies, including an eventual ban on gasoline-powered automobiles. The EPA also announced additional funding to help California school districts transition to zero-emission school buses.
