The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) has released several amendments to the Homekey+ Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA).
These amendments include the following:
- HCD will to continue accepting Homekey+ applications over the counter until all funds have been exhausted.
- Applications received after the release of the amendment will be prioritized based on inclusion of veteran-serving units.
- An additional operating award of $30,000 per veteran-serving unit, available regardless of whether the application was submitted before or after the August 7, 2025 NOFA amendment.
- Increased flexibility on threshold requirements.
- Additional time to submit required resolutions.
- Clarifying amendments regarding the applicability of negative points.

Homekey+ is funded in large part by Proposition 1, passed by California voters in March 2024, and provides funding to local public entities and co-applicant partners to develop permanent supportive housing for veterans and other Californians experiencing homelessness with a behavioral health challenge.
