In preparation for California’s statewide Special Election on November 4, 2025, the Department of Finance has formally requested the State Controller’s Office to distribute $251.3 million to county elections officials to support election operations.

This funding, authorized under Chapter 97, Statutes of 2025, (SB 280, Cervantes) is intended to reimburse counties for the costs associated with administering the election, including staffing, printing, mailing, and other logistical needs.

For full allocation details, view the Department of Finance’s letter to the State Controller here.
