On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced $200 million in grant funding for 58 community wildfire resilience projects across the nation. This funding includes nearly $25 million for projects in California, most of which are in RCRC member counties.
The awards are part of the Community Wildfire Defense Grant Program, which is designed to aid communities at the greatest risk of wildfire with projects that mitigate that risk. This round of funding, the third this year, includes projects to protect communities in the Counties of Tulare, Mono, Inyo, Humboldt, Mendocino and Plumas.
USDA will provide a fourth opportunity to apply for funds under this program later in 2025, all part of a five-year, $1 billion investment plan in community wildfire resilience.
