RCRC wishes to thank the participants of the 2025 Annual Meeting, our generous sponsors, and the expert panelists, industry insiders, and our keynote speaker who, together, made this a memorable event.

This year, over 325 participants, including representatives from RCRC’s 40 member counties, attended the Annual Meeting over three days at the Everline Hotel & Spa, in Placer County.

The event featured experts sharing their knowledge on issues pertinent to rural governance. This included engaging panel discussions with specialists in stewarding California’s forested lands, creating positive pathways for youth, and the use of AI in rural counties. This year’s political insights were provided by Strategy Insights CEO, Matt Rexroad, and attendees heard insights about the politics of business from Lance Hastings, President and CEO of the California Manufacturers & Technology Association. In addition to the panel discussions, and political and industry insights, attendees were treated to an address by the USDA Senior Advisor for Rural Prosperity, T.W. Shannon, who traveled from Washington D.C. to join us. Attendees also enjoyed an inspiring keynote presentation from actor and speaker Steven Ford, who shared personal insights on leadership, public service, and life in the public eye.

“The Annual Meeting is an invaluable opportunity for rural leaders to collaborate, share ideas, and strategize solutions that reflect the unique needs of our communities,” said RCRC Chair and Modoc County Supervisor Geri Byrne. “We are tackling complex issues with innovation and resilience, and this year’s discussions only reaffirm the strength and spirit of rural California.”

Placer County Supervisor and RCRC Board Delegate Shanti Landon, who helped welcome attendees to the region, noted the importance of hosting the event locally: “It was an honor to host this year’s meeting in beautiful Placer County. Events like these foster strong relationships across county lines and ensure that rural voices remain united and influential in statewide policy discussions.”

During the annual favorite Auction Dinner and Basket Drawing, generosity overflowed as participants raised over $110,000 for select charities in the County of the Chair.
