On December 3, 2025, a group of 89 Congressmembers sent a bipartisan, bicameral letter to House Leadership urging swift consideration of the Secure Rural Schools Reauthorization Act of 2025 (SRS). RCRC-member counties and other rural counties across the nation mobilized to urge their Congressmembers to sign on to this letter. As a result of this collective action, the Senate version of the SRS bill (S. 356) will move under suspension in the House next week and is expected to be considered on the House floor on Tuesday, December 9.
To help ensure the reauthorization of the Secure Rural Schools (SRS) program is passed, House members need to hear from local leaders about SRS’s importance for rural communities.
RCRC requests that counties reach out to your congressmember before December 9, urging them to vote Yes when the measure is considered on the House floor. A template letter is available here.
RCRC continues to stalwartly advocate for SRS passage on behalf of our member counties. Special thanks to ACG, RCRC’s federal lobbying firm. For additional information, contact RCRC Senior Policy Advocate Staci Heaton.
