On Tuesday, the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) announced two webinars to highlight their efforts on the state’s 30×30 conservation policy. The first, scheduled to occur on Friday, January 9, was to train “30×30 Ambassadors” to further outreach, education and communication on 30×30. The second, which will take place on January 22, will highlight places and partnerships to advance California’s 30×30 goals.

RCRC has long been skeptical of the state’s 30×30 program, largely in part to its reliance on state land acquisitions for conservation purposes. Public entities, including the State of California and its various agencies, have long been considered lax in their diligence to manage the lands under their purview. Whether the state needs to place lands in conservation easements in order to meet its 30×30 goals remains a point of contention.
