Butte County is seeking a Director of General Services. The Director of General Services is a senior executive leadership role responsible for overseeing a complex, multi-functional department that delivers critical support services across the County. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and operating under the policy direction of the Board of Supervisors, the Director provides strategic, operational, and administrative leadership to ensure County departments receive high-quality, efficient, and responsive services.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned public-sector executive and collaborative leader with a proven record of directing complex, multi-disciplinary organizations that support countywide operations. This individual brings sound judgment, strategic vision, and operational discipline to the oversight of General Services functions, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective service delivery aligned with the Board of Supervisors’ policy direction and the Chief Administrative Officer’s administrative leadership.

Annual Salary Range:$ 163,857 – $198,267

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Bachelor’s degree in public administration or business administration or other related field from an accredited college or university; and

Five (5) years of increasing responsible management experience in public administration or other relevant environment with multiple divisions and regulatory compliance components, including three (3) years of staff level experience in contracting, property management or construction management.
