Last Friday, January 31, Doug Burgum was sworn in as the 55th Secretary of the Interior after being confirmed in the Senate by a vote of 79-18. On his first day in office, Secretary Burgum met with Department leadership, outlined his key priorities, took immediate steps to streamline processes that will enhance efficiency and innovation across the Department and advanced President Trump’s agenda by signing six Secretary’s Orders to make America Energy Dominant. More on these orders can be found here.
Additionally, The Senate Agriculture Committee unanimously advanced Brooke Rollins’ nomination to be agriculture secretary on Monday February 3rd. This vote clears the way for a full Senate vote, though committee chair John Boozman (R-AR) indicated it won’t happen this week. Ms. Rollins is expected to be easily confirmed with bipartisan support.
