On Wednesday, April 9, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee voted to advance two nominees to the full Senate for consideration: Brian Nesvik, nominee for Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; and Jessica Kramer, nominee for EPA Assistant Administrator for Water.

Mr. Nesvik is a former director of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, and a retired Brigadier General in the Wyoming Army National Guard. If confirmed, Mr. Nesvik would oversee more than 500 national wildlife refuges and oversee the Fish and Wildlife Service’s addition of imperiled plants and animals to the endangered and threatened species lists.

Ms. Kramer currently serves as an adviser at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and previously served at the agency during the first Trump administration. If confirmed by the Senate, Ms. Kramer would oversee the EPA Office of Water, which sets policy implementing the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act. During her confirmation hearing, Ms. Kramer said one of her goals is to ensure the average property owner can easily tell if they have waters and wetlands on-site that meet the definition of Waters of the United States (WOTUS), under the Clean Water Act.
