A strong agricultural economy is the financial underpinning of many of the RCRC member counties and, thus, are dependent on this sector for tax revenues to support county general government. Being aware of and working with the agricultural sector to ensure ongoing farm viability is in the interest of RCRC member counties. It is through this lens that RCRC considers policy discussions taking place at the state and federal levels. Topics which fall under this category include: the role of farmland conservation; public investments in infrastructure that benefit the farm sector such as for the deployment of broadband and zero-emission vehicles; the maintenance of county agricultural departments including the appointment of commissioners; and ancillary facilities such as those under the jurisdiction of District Agricultural Associations.
