On Thursday, Governor Newsom announced the availability of up to $30 million through the new Regional Wildfire and Landscape Resilience Grant Program. These grants, from voter approved Climate Bond funds (Proposition 4) and supported by the Legislature, are intended to help communities prevent wildfires before they start, restore the health of forests and wildlands, improve public health, and reduce the risk of wildfire spreading into populated areas.

These funds are in addition to the $70 million for wildfire prevention and resilience projects the Governor announced last week. Among recent resilience projects the Governor highlighted in his announcement were Forest Health grants to fund the treatment of 10,000 acres in Butte County, and the Eastside Yreka Community Protection Project to reduce fuels across 410 acres near homes and critical infrastructure.

CAL FIRE is hosting a Regional Wildfire & Landscape Resilience Grants Virtual Workshop on Wednesday May 20th from 10 to 11:30 a.m. via Zoom, which can be accessed HERE

The deadline to submit concept proposals is 3:00 p.m. on June 30, 2026. Applicants who submit the most competitive concept proposals will be invited to submit a full proposal. Invitations will be sent no later than August 7, 2026. More information about the grants and the application is available HERE.
