On Monday, April 6, the California Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) announced that the provisional commercial cannabis licensing program has been closed, and provisional licenses have been transitioned to annual licenses. Since DCC’s inception, 6,419 provisional licenses have successfully transitioned to annual licenses, including 977 equity retail licenses and 3,614 cultivation licenses.

In the announcement, DCC credits state and local partners for their efforts in program development, ongoing monitoring, and collaboration that supported the success of the Local Jurisdiction Assistance Grant program. They also highlighted their collaboration in Mendocino County that enabled DCC to assume the role of lead agency for CEQA-related work.
