California State Parks Offers Free ‘Historian Passport’ for Limited Time

On Wednesday, June 17, Governor Newsom announced that California State Parks is offering a special free version of its Historian Passport, normally priced at $50, through July 6th. Once claimed online, the pass is valid for the remainder of 2026. The pass entitles the holder, and up to four (4) people accompanying them, free entry to 30 State Historic Parks. Among the parks where the pass is accepted are locations in Amador, Butte, El Dorado, Lake, Mariposa, Mono, Monterey, Napa, Nevada, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Shasta, Solano, Sonoma, Tehama, Trinity, and Tuolumne Counties.
