On July 29, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin released the EPA’s proposal to rescind the 2009 Endangerment Finding, which has been used to justify over $1 trillion in regulations, including the Biden-Harris Administration’s electric vehicle (EV) mandate.
If finalized, the proposal would eliminate EPA’s authority under Section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act to regulate carbon dioxide and five other “greenhouse gas” emissions from new motor vehicles and engines. This would remove mandates that critics say have limited consumer choice, strained supply chains, and raised costs on products that move by truck.
