Governor Announces Additional $269 Million to Advance Sites Reservoir Project

On Thursday, June 18, Governor Newsom announced that the state will be contributing an additional $268.9 million from the California Water Commission to the Sites Reservoir project. In the announcement, the Governor called Sites Reservoir a key component of his administration’s water policy. With this additional funding, the Sites project is eligible for a total of $1.36 billion in Proposition 1 and Proposition 4 money. In the announcement, California Water Commission Chair Fern Steiner highlighted that Sites will contribute 1.5-million-acre feet of 9-million-acre feet of total additional storage the state aims to bring online.
