Catherine Purcell, of Solano County, has been reappointed to the Board of Parole Hearings, where she has served since 2021. Purcell held multiple positions at the State Bar Court of California including Presiding Judge from 2014 to 2021 and Review Judge from 2008 to 2014. She was a Judge at the Kern County Superior Court from 2001 to 2008. Purcell was a Deputy District Attorney for the Kern County District Attorney’s office from 1989 to 2001. She was Business Management Consultant at Merchant Overseas Property Group Ltd. from 1991 to 1992. Purcell was an Attorney at the Law Offices of Terry M. Giles from 1987 to 1989. She was an Associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher from 1986 to 1987. Purcell was a Judicial Attorney Clerk for the Honorable Malcolm M. Lucas at the California Supreme Court from 1985 to 1986. Purcell was a Registered Nurse for the Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail from 1981 to 1982. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine, Caruso School of law and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from California Lutheran University. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $210,249. Purcell is a Democrat.
