This week, RCRC President and CEO Patrick Blacklock presented $115,200 to ten Modoc County nonprofits at the Modoc County Board of Supervisors meeting. The funds were raised by rural community and business leaders from across the state, during RCRC’s County Basket Drawing and Auction during the RCRC Annual Meeting in September.

“These contributions are more than just a donation; they are a powerful investment in the future and well-being of Modoc County. I’m incredibly grateful to our rural community, including our local government and business leaders from across the state, for their extraordinary generosity and commitment to Modoc County,” said RCRC Board Chair and Modoc County Supervisor Geri Byrne. “The funds raised through the Annual Meeting’s auction will strengthen the vital work of ten exceptional local nonprofits, supporting their ongoing efforts to improve the lives of our residents and enhance the well-being of our community.”

Each year, RCRC’s Annual Meeting concludes with a County Basket Drawing and Auction, during which county-themed baskets (curated by RCRC’s participating member counties) are auctioned off to raise money for one or more local charities in the County of the Chair. This year, the auction raised a record-breaking $115,200. The nonprofits receiving the proceeds include Modoc County 4-H; Calvada History Foundation; Modoc Harvest (Historic Fruit Project); Nevada- California-Oregon Railway; Modoc Economic Development Commission; Modoc County Sheriff’s K-9 Association; Alturas Rotary Community Foundation; Strong Family Health Center; Tiny Mighty Strong; and the Adin Community Park Foundation.
