On January 30, by a vote of 71-29, the Senate passed a $1.2 trillion spending package that separated the Homeland Security appropriations bill from the five other bills included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act. The five appropriations bills (Defense; Labor-HHS-Education; Transportation-HUD; Financial Services; National Security-Department of State) received full-year funding for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26), while Homeland Security Funding was extended by continuing resolution (CR) through February 13. The House narrowly cleared the package on February 2, on a 217-214 vote. The measure was signed into law by the President on Tuesday, February 3, ending a partial government shutdown that had begun on January 31. Over 95% of the federal government is now funded for FY26.
