This week, an RCRC delegation returned to Washington DC to meet with the Administration about issues of importance to our rural communities. This was a follow up to the visit earlier this year, which occurred in late February, while many transitions were still underway for the Trump Administration. Returning this spring, the RCRC delegation held supplemental conversations with several members of California’s congressional delegation, and also met with departments and offices that had been previously unavailable during the transition. Discussion focused on Secure Rural Schools funding; the Farm Bill; forest resiliency; rural healthcare; and many other pressing issues. The RCRC delegation included: RCRC Chair, Gerie Byrne (Modoc); RCRC First Vice Chair, Miles Menetrey (Mariposa); RCRC Immediate Past Chair, Chris Lopez (Monterey); RCRC Board Delegate, Robert Poythress (Madera); RCRC President/CEO, Patrick Blacklock; RCRC Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, Mary-Ann Warmerdam; and RCRC Senior Policy Advocate, Staci Heaton.
