On December 12, 2024, RCRC honored Tedd Ward, Director of the Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authority, with the RCRC President’s Award. RCRC’s President & CEO Patrick Blacklock presented Mr. Ward with the award at the December Board of Directors meeting for RCRC’s affiliate entity the Rural Counties’ Environmental Services Joint Powers Authority (ESJPA). The RCRC President’s Award is awarded to publicly acknowledge individuals who take the time to go above and beyond their everyday roles to further advance the cause of California’s rural counties.
Mr. Ward was recognized for his exceptional leadership in the realm of sustainable waste management, which spans over 30 years of experience. His deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by rural California has provided invaluable insights and perspectives to policymakers and industry professionals alike. This is evident through his active involvement in various boards and committees, including the SB 54 Single-Use Packaging Advisory Board and the California Statewide Commission on Recycling Markets & Curbside Recycling. As Chair of the ESJPA Technical Advisory Group, he has also provided invaluable expertise and guidance, benefiting RCRC’s rural member counties.
