RCRC has named Rebecca Wachsberg as its new Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. In this role, Wachsberg will lead RCRC’s government affairs team and advocacy efforts on behalf of California’s rural counties, succeeding Mary-Ann Warmerdam, who is stepping into a more flexible role following ten years of dedicated service at RCRC while continuing her involvement in state and local policy issues.
Wachsberg was selected following a highly competitive recruitment process that included numerous applicants and multiple rounds of interviews with RCRC staff, member county representatives, former legislators, and local government advocates. She brings a unique blend of local government and legislative experience, having served as both a rural county Deputy County Administrative Officer and a Legislative Chief of Staff, including for the President pro Tempore of the California State Senate.
Her deep understanding of public policy, local governance, and the legislative process, combined with a reputation for building bipartisan relationships and navigating complex issues, will be a tremendous asset to RCRC and its member counties.
Wachsberg will officially join RCRC on November 9 and will attend the upcoming Annual Meeting in Santa Barbara, where members will have an opportunity to meet and welcome her to the organization.
