The Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI) is seeking responses to two surveys, designed to provide additional insight into specific planning topics that will be folded into the General Plan Guidelines and other future planning guidance materials LCI creates.

The Suburban Regeneration Survey, developed by undergraduate students at UC Berkeley’s Institute of Urban and Regional Development, is intended to investigate creative solutions for building and developing more regenerative and resilient suburbs. Survey data will inform the students’ final capstone report; forthcoming guidance on planning in suburban communities from LCI’s Policy Innovation team; specific planning guidance; and examples for suburban communities in the updated General Plan Guidelines.

The survey can be found HERE.

The AI in Land Use Planning Survey, developed by graduate students from UC Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy, seeks to understand the current landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) usage by land use and planning departments and agencies in California. They also wish to identify innovative strategies and best practices for the safe use of AI in land use planning. Survey data will be used for the students’ research purposes and may inform guidance on AI usage for long-range planning in the revised General Plan Guidelines.

The survey can be found HERE.

For both surveys, all information shared will be anonymous, unless explicit permission to share personally identifiable information is granted.
