The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will hold a virtual public forum to receive customer feedback on mobile voice services. Specifically, the CPUC wants to hear from customers on the quality of wireless phone service, particularly as it relates on service outages and service restoration. The CPUC, through its Wireless Service Quality rulemaking, is considering extending minimum service quality requirements to mobile phone service. For example, wireless customers currently have no guarantees to have service outages restored in a timely manner, or receive billing credits for prolonged outages or poor service, among other things. These minimum standards exist for customers with traditional landlines or VoIP service, but not for mobile service. Written public comments can be submitted at any time, see HERE.
