Napa County Supervisor Anne Cottrell was featured in a recent Capitol Weekly opinion piece urging state lawmakers to strengthen and sustain California’s investment in wildfire resilience.
Cottrell emphasized the importance of proactive wildfire mitigation and highlighted the effectiveness of fuel reduction and forest resilience projects already underway across California. She expressed concern that the state’s 2026-27 budget would reduce wildfire resilience funding at a time when wildfire risks continue to increase. Specifically, she called on the Legislature to restore ongoing funding through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, dedicate Proposition 4 resources to wildfire resilience projects, and develop a long-term funding strategy to implement the California Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force’s Action Plan.
