In The Mercury News, RCRC Senior Policy Advocate John Kennedy discussed the growing challenges local governments face in managing hazardous battery waste. Senate Bill 501, authored by Senator Ben Allen and supported by RCRC, would require manufacturers and retailers to provide free collection and recycling programs for mid-sized batteries and battery-powered products, helping reduce costs for local governments and improve public safety.
