On Tuesday June 23, the Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI) announced Round 1 of the Adaption Planning Grant Program (APGP) has closed. The program invested $8 million across 14 projects meant to address issues like extreme heat, sea level rise, and wildfire.

Among the grants awarded were $650,000 for Lake County to build an inclusive climate-risk framework with an equity-focused resilience planning lens across county operations; $340,000 for the Hoopa Valley Tribe in Humboldt County to develop a Tribal Adaptation Plan focused on wildfire, watershed health, salmon habitat, and cultural resources; and $650,000 for a Shade Equity Master Plan in the unincorporated Eastern Coachella Valley.

The Adaption Planning Grant Program emerged from the 2021-22 State Budget. Funding has not been secured for future grant rounds.
