SACRAMENTO, CA – On Tuesday, the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) presented $115,200 to ten Modoc County nonprofits at the Modoc County Board of Supervisors meeting. Rural community and business leaders from across the state raised the funds during the County Basket Drawing and Auction at RCRC’s 2025 Annual Meeting in September for the benefit of nonprofits serving the Modoc County community.

“These contributions are more than just a donation; they are a powerful investment in the future and well-being of Modoc County. I’m incredibly grateful to our rural community, including our local government and business leaders from across the state, for their extraordinary generosity and commitment to Modoc County,” said RCRC Board Chair and Modoc County Supervisor Geri Byrne. “The funds raised through the Annual Meeting’s auction will strengthen the vital work of ten exceptional local nonprofits, supporting their ongoing efforts to improve the lives of our residents and enhance the well-being of our community.”

Each year, RCRC’s Annual Meeting concludes with a County Basket Drawing and Auction in which a county-themed basket is auctioned off from each of RCRC’s 40 member counties. The proceeds from the auction are then donated to select nonprofits in the county of the RCRC Board Chair. This year’s auction raised a record amount totaling $115,200 with the nonprofits receiving the proceeds to include Modoc County 4-H, Calvada History Foundation, Modoc Harvest (Historic Fruit Project), Nevada- California-Oregon Railway, Modoc Economic Development Commission, Modoc County Sheriff’s K-9 Association, Alturas Rotary Community Foundation, Strong Family Health Center, Tiny Mighty Strong, and the Adin Community Park Foundation.

The funds raised will aid these nonprofit organizations in their continuous endeavors to make a positive difference in the Modoc County community.
