SACRAMENTO, CA – On January 6, the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) honored Jaime Green, former Superintendent of the Trinity Alps Unified School District, with the 2025 RCRC President’s Award for his dedicated advocacy on behalf of California’s rural counties. The annual award recognizes individuals who exceed their professional duties to support and strengthen the state’s rural communities.

Green was recognized for his leadership in securing the passage of the Secure Rural Schools (SRS) Reauthorization Act of 2025. The SRS Act provides essential funding for schools and road maintenance in counties with significant federal land holdings. After the program’s funding expired in 2023, Green actively campaigned for its reauthorization, including traveling to Washington, D.C., to engage directly with legislators. His efforts contributed to the passage of the reauthorization act, which restores unpaid 2024 payments and authorizes funding through 2026.

“Jaime Green’s steadfast leadership and tireless advocacy have made a lasting difference for California’s rural counties,” said Patrick Blacklock, President and CEO of RCRC. “His determination to secure reauthorization of the Secure Rural Schools Act ensured that critical funding for schools and infrastructure was restored when rural communities needed it most. Jaime’s service exemplifies the commitment, perseverance, and public spirit that the RCRC President’s Award is intended to honor.”

“I am thrilled to see Jaime Green receive this well-deserved honor,” said Trinity County Supervisor Jill Cox. “His proactive engagement with federal legislators was absolutely essential in securing the future of the Secure Rural Schools Act. Through his persistence and ability to build strong relationships across all levels of government, Jamie helped ensure continued funding that will provide vital support for Trinity County and rural communities throughout the region.”

“All recognition belongs to the dedicated public servants in Washington, D.C.” stated Mr. Green. “We are deeply grateful for the leadership and service of Congressman Doug LaMalfa, whose commitment to rural America leaves a lasting impact, as well as Representatives Julia Letlow, Joe Neguse, and Jared Huffman, who worked across party lines to pass the Secure Rural Schools Act, a true lifeline for rural communities. Our Trinity County team spoke from the heart, and they all listened. The above listed Representatives put politics aside and delivered for hard working Americans. We are all blessed to live in such a wonderful Nation.”

In addition to his work on the SRS reauthorization, Green served as superintendent of the Trinity Alps Unified School District from 2017 until his retirement in December. During his tenure, he was recognized as Superintendent of the Year in 2024 by the California Small School Districts’ Association.
