SACRAMENTO, CA – On Wednesday, January 21, Mariposa County Supervisor Miles Menetrey was installed as the Chair of the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC), a service organization that champions policies on behalf of its 40 rural member counties. Supervisor Menetrey took the Oath of Office as administered by Assembly Member David Tangipa and will lead the advocacy organization throughout 2026.

“RCRC is a critical platform in amplifying the collective voices of California’s rural counties, promoting a better understanding of our unique challenges,” said Supervisor Menetrey “The collective efforts of our forty member counties ensure that rural priorities remain front and center on the state and federal stage.”

RCRC’s Board of Directors is headed by four officers composed of elected County Supervisors from the organization’s 40 member counties. Mariposa County has been a member of RCRC since 1976. Joining Supervisor Menetrey on the leadership team are Santa Barbara County Supervisor Bob Nelson, as First Vice Chair, Napa County Supervisor Anne Cottrell, as Second Vice Chair, and Modoc County Supervisor Geri Byrne as Immediate Past Chair. The newly installed 2026 Officers will guide the organization in shaping public policies for California’s rural counties.

“I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to lead RCRC as Board Chair in 2026,” said Menetrey. “Building on the solid groundwork laid by past leaders, I am eager to join with fellow board members in advancing policies that strengthen rural communities and expand their opportunities. With collaboration, persistence, and a shared vision, we will continue striving for a prosperous and sustainable future for rural California.”
