On Friday, August 28, Governor Newsom announced $2.7 billion in funding for more than 150 new transportation projects, intended to improve travel times, expand travel options beyond driving, and strengthen the state’s transportation infrastructure assets against severe weather threats. In the announcement, the Governor touts $81 billion dollars in funding to transportation projects since 2019.
Among the projects highlighted are $63 million to add two HOV lanes to State Route 37 between Solano and Sonoma Counties, $76.5 million to install a wildlife crossing and fencing along Interstate 5 in Shasta County, and $33.5 million for three projects to improve fish passage along the Eel River in Humboldt County.
