SACRAMENTO, CA – On Wednesday, January 8, Modoc County Supervisor Geri Byrne was installed as the Chair of the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC), a service organization that champions policies on behalf of its 40 member counties. Supervisor Byrne took the Oath of Office as administered by Congressman Doug LaMalfa and will lead the advocacy organization throughout 2025.
“RCRC plays a vital role in advocating for California’s rural counties, fostering greater understanding of the unique challenges rural communities face,” said Supervisor Byrne. “Through the collective efforts of our forty member counties, we can help ensure that rural priorities, such as property insurance, forest resilience, broadband access and more, remain a focal point.”
RCRC’s Board of Directors is headed by four officers composed of elected County Supervisors from the organization’s 40 member counties. Modoc County has been a member of RCRC since 1976. Joining Supervisor Byrne on the leadership team are Mariposa County Supervisor Miles Menetrey, as First Vice Chair, Santa Barbara County Supervisor Bob Nelson, as Second Vice Chair, and Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez as Immediate Past Chair. The newly installed 2025 Officers will guide the organization in shaping public policies for California’s rural counties.
“Building on the strong foundation laid by previous RCRC leadership, I am honored to serve as the 2025 Board Chair,” said Supervisor Byrne. “I look forward to collaborating with my fellow RCRC Board colleagues to champion the needs of rural counties and their residents. Together, we will work diligently to advocate for policies that address distinct challenges and advance key opportunities for our communities, ensuring they continue to prosper.”
