SACRAMENTO, CA – On Thursday, Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) honored Tedd Ward, Director of the Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authority, with the 2024 RCRC President’s Award. This award is presented to individuals who go above and beyond to support and strengthen California’s rural counties. RCRC’s President & CEO Patrick Blacklock provided Mr. Ward with the award at the December Board of Directors meeting for RCRC’s affiliate entity the Rural Counties’ Environmental Services Joint Powers Authority (ESJPA).

Mr. Ward was recognized for his exceptional leadership in the realm of sustainable waste management which spans over 30 years of experience. His deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by rural California has provided invaluable insights and perspectives to policymakers and industry professionals alike. This is evident through his active involvement in various boards and committees, including the SB 54 Single-Use Packaging Advisory Board and the California Statewide Commission on Recycling Markets & Curbside Recycling. As Chair of the ESJPA Technical Advisory Group, he has also provided invaluable expertise and guidance, benefiting RCRC’s rural member counties.
