SACRAMENTO, CA – On Wednesday, January 21, Santa Barbara County Supervisor Bob Nelson was elevated to serve as First Vice Chair of the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC). Supervisor Nelson took the Oath of Office as administered by Assembly Member David Tangipa as part of the 2026 Officers of RCRC.
Supervisor Bob Nelson joins Mariposa County Supervisor Miles Menetrey, who will serve as Chair, Napa County Supervisor, Anne Cottrell who will serve as Second Vice Chair and Modoc County Supervisor Geri Byrne, who will serve as the Immediate Past Chair. These newly installed 2026 Officers will lead the organization in championing public policies on behalf of California’s rural counties.
“I am deeply honored to be selected for this leadership role, and I want to extend my sincere gratitude to my colleagues for their confidence and trust,” said Supervisor Nelson. “As we look ahead, I am excited to continue the work we’ve begun together—strengthening partnerships, advancing rural priorities, and ensuring that our collective voice carries weight where it matters most. Together, we will champion policies that uplift our communities and help secure a stronger, more vibrant future for all who call rural California home.”
RCRC’s Board of Directors is headed by four officers composed of elected County Supervisors from the organization’s 40 member counties. Santa Barbara County has been a member of RCRC since 2021.
