SACRAMENTO, CA – In December 2024, Santa Barbara County Supervisor Bob Nelson was selected by his peers to serve as Second Vice Chair of the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC). On January 8, Supervisor Nelson took the official Oath of Office establishing the 2025 RCRC Officers, as administered by Congressman Doug LaMalfa, during the RCRC Board of Directors meeting.

Supervisor Nelson joins Modoc County Supervisor Geri Byrne (who will serve as Chair), Mariposa County Supervisor Miles Menetrey (who will serve as First Vice Chair), and Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez (who will serve as the Immediate Past Chair). These newly installed officers will lead the organization in championing public policies on behalf of California’s rural counties.

“RCRC plays a crucial role in advancing the priorities of our rural communities, ensuring that rural California has a strong advocate at both the state and federal levels,” said Supervisor Nelson. “I’m grateful for the trust my fellow rural county supervisors have placed in me to serve on the RCRC 2025 leadership team. As we move forward, I am eager to collaborate with our member counties and work together to elevate the voices of rural communities across the state.”

RCRC’s Board of Directors is headed by four officers composed of elected county supervisors from the organization’s 40 member counties. Santa Barbara County has been a member of RCRC since 2021.
